Distribution

Until water from the treatment plants reaches the homes, it passes through two phases in which an important distribution network comes into play, backed by the latest generation technology, ensuring a top quality service.

Mains Distribution

Once the water treatment plant has treated the water to make it fit for human consumption, it can be brought to the population, a task that is performed in three phases:

Aducction

This activity consists in transporting the water from the purification plant to the entrance of the populations via an arterial network of tubes with a wide diameter and complex pumping systems. The purification system does not necessarily take place near to the city or population to be provided for, so water must be pumped through tubes measuring 800-1,600 mm in diameter to reach its destination.

Retail Distribution

Once water has reached different populations, water is distributed through a web of pipes of different size or diameter (diameter 450-800 mm), so each point receives the agreed delivery in sufficient quantity and pressure.

Integral management with integrated remote control

In this phase, Aguas de Valencia controls the flow of water reaching towns; that the pressure and valve positioning is correct, while ensuring the proper operation of wells and further pumping.

Throughout the network there are elements of control, security, disinfection and discharge that actively ensure better water distribution

Retail Distribution

This phase is one of the most important within the Integrated Water Cycle. Aguas de Valencia currently enables more than 3 million users of four autonomous communities to enjoy more than 200 hm3 of quality drinking water per year in their homes.

Once water has reached different populations, it is necessary to take it from wells or large pipes to the inputs of houses and industries in cities and municipalities. These pipes that allow drinking water reaching every home is called water supply connection.

Why is this stage so important? Because at this stage we deal directly with users. Therefore, maintenance of the distribution network in optimum operating conditions is the daily challenge of Aguas de Valencia. It is so that, today, Aguas de Valencia has more than 376.000 water supply connections and 18,700 kilometers of pipeline, designed to carry water of the highest quality to households in the areas served.
